Missions - Mexico

(Bro. Don Nye, GOSPELVISION Ministries' Director of Missions to Mexico comes with a heart full of love, a wealth of knowledge and many years of experience ministering to the people of Mexico. The following story is a brief account of his relationship with Pastor José Garcia, his family and ministry in Saltillo, COAH., Mexico.)

Praise God! Glory to His Name I have been a Christian for 30 years. I was married to my wonderful helpmate, Marlene, thirty-eight years ago. A father and friend to three beautiful daughters, and six and a half grandchildren (one on the way). We live in cortland, Ohio.

God started me on a journey to Mexico actually 30 years ago. I was saved a short time when the Lord baptized me in the Holy Ghost. That evening I sang in Spanish, not understanding a word, but knowing it was the Lord doing a work in me.

Some 15 years later, a local church invited me on a 10 day mission trip. It changed my life forever. I had never seen people so full and over flowing with love and compassion. They opened their homes and kitchens to us every where we would go. God had spoken to my heart about returning to Mexico soon. I fell in love with the Mexican people.

I became very good friends with Pastor José Garcia, his family and church people. God has had me working with them since 1991, doing many interesting and successful ministries. Pastor Garcia makes the arrangements for me with other local churches to minister. We have had some most exciting times. We also go out to mountain ranchos as well as the desert ranchos, (small villages) ministering with food, clothes, and the great word of God. We have worked with orphanages outside Saltillo and in New Laredo, Mexico.

Many have been invited to come and experience a mission trip. We have had great success with small and large groups. We arrange for housing, food, activities and ministry. Housing for the most part is with Mexican families who are so open and kind. Food and activities fall into place. As we minister the word, we let God have His way. We have had many different ways of working in this area (churches, tents, parks, streets, homes, hospitals, special things with children, orphanages, buses, and many one on one ministries). We pass out Bibles, tracts, books with a great message.

The times I have spent in Mexico have been a great blessing in my life and others. We have seen many come to salvation, people healed, blessed, and set free by the power of God. Praise God! God always encourages the body of Christ and brings revival to their hearts.

The Lord tells us to be a good steward and to be wise. God is good.... In preparing for Mexico 3 years ago a sister in the Lord told me of a sale going on at J.C. Penny's. As God moved upon this store, we made a purchase, and guess what? God gave us $40,000 worth of clothes (men, women, and children) for $2,000. Praise His Name, the testimonies continue every year.

The Lord has permitted Pastor Garcia and his church to start a radio ministry one and a half year ago. The Pastor is on the air 10 hours a week, Praise God. I preach the Word of God, live every Saturday morning. Knowing the economy in Mexico, the Pastor is making a great sacrifice paying $220 weekly for the broadcast. What a blessing this program has been.

On the home front, I volunteer at the Youngstown Gleaners Food Bank. This food bank is directed by a wonderful Christian man, Joe Lordie. He has been working very hard for 18 years bringing food and help to this area. Brother Lordie has dedicated his live to this work and has made many personal sacrifices. Every Tuesday there is a food give away and 200 -500 people show up for help. This community is hard pressed for jobs and many families need assistance. Praise God. Also the 3rd Thursday of the month is a special give away to the churches pantries. Thank God for local donors that is willing to share their goods. We are also blessed to have Operation Blessing from the 700 Club helping with large truck loads of greatly needed supplies. The 700 Club is a world wide net work reaching peoples needs. We were visited by David Andrews from the 700 Club back in November 2006, he is a representative for the Operation Blessing Out Reach.

GOSPELVISION Ministries, donated a school bus to the food bank. The bus is a blessing, as we turned it into a mobile chapel for the people. Every Tuesday we are there ministering, preaching, giving Bibles away, tapes, CD's, DVD's, and offering prayer. We also offer hot coffee and snacks. Praise the Lord.... God is moving as He confirms HIS WORD.

We are always in need of Bibles, tracts, and materials. (English, and Spanish). I will be going to Saltillo, Mexico this spring, Lord permitting. If you have questions or want to e-mail me please do so.
