Are the Lights on?
By Jeannie Little Did you ever meet someone, that just as soon as you came into their presence, there was an awesome feeling? You knew something was different. Their countenance was radiant. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 Just recently I met someone like this who reminded me of a story I heard years ago. There was a couple who went on vacation to a foreign country. Wanting to make the best of every opportunity, they hired a tour guide to spend the day with them and show them something they may have missed on their own. At the end of the day it was getting dark, but the guide keep them going, promising to show them something spectacular hidden in the mountains. As they continued around the dark mountain and came to the other side, there spread out before them was a beautiful castle nestled in the mountain. There it was, a huge castle with what looked like a thousand lights shining through all the windows, illuminating the whole hillside. The tour guide exclaimed, "Oh, the king is there!" The couple was quick to ask how he knew that. That's easy, he explained, when the king is inside, every light in the castle is turned on. Can the world look at you and say – that person must be Christian, there is a glow, the king must be inside. Are the lights on?
